Diorama
Assignment
Due
Date: October 23rd
The purpose of this
assignment is to show the knowledge that you have acquired about a Canadian
Native Group that we have studied over the past months. It will replace a unit
test!
By using art material
and other objects found around your home, you will construct a scene that will
show the surrounding of the group you have chosen. Your diorama should include as much visual
information as possible to clearly illustrate customs, culture and lifestyle of
your native group.
Steps to follow:
1.Choose a Native Group that we have studied. - Sub-Artic
-Plateau -Arctic
- Plains - Eastern
Woodlands
2. Brainstorm what things you should include in your scene from the
information you received in class. You
may also research additional information if you would like.
3. Use a large box, create the surroundings of your group. Be sure to include:
- the environment
(physical characteristics such as trees, forests, lakes, ocean snow etc.
- housing
- forms of
transportation
- animal life
- things that the
group made.
- people in the group
(appropriate dress)
- demonstrate how they
hunted, farmed, fished etc.
- weapons
- food they ate (how
it was prepared)
4.There will be a write-up to compliment the items found in the scene.
This helps students to include information beyond what they can show.
